After making headlines in the 80s and early 90s for his athleticism, WWE's Bret "The Hitman" Hart was inducted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday at Brooklyn's Barclay's Center, making him a two-time WWE Hall of Fame Inductee.

The occasion, however, was not without a shocking twist, after Hart was attacked by a fan while in the ring giving a speech alongside his niece, wrestling star Natalya. Now, the 61-year-old is opening up about the incident for the first time.

Hart wrote on Instagram late Monday, "Regarding the ceremony, firstly I want to let everyone know that I am okay and was not injured."

The wrestling icon continued, "If there’s one thing I want everyone to take away from the Hall of Fame ceremony is not so much what happened, but how I wasn’t going to let anything stop me from completing my tribute to my best friend and our team."

On Saturday, Zachary Madsen, 26, lunged at Hart after jumping over a metal barrier and tackled him to the ground.

He was immediately attacked by security guards and led out of the arena. Reports the New York Post, Madsen has since been charged with two counts of assault, one count of criminal trespass, and one count of violation of local law.
