KEY POINTS

  • Rey Mysterio was rumored to be part of the new babyface stable
  • Rey Mysterio just lost his ladder match against Andrade Almas, leaving his story opportunities open
  • Aleister Black has a possible entry to the rivalry

Seth Rollins and his stable are currently headlining Monday Night Raw with their feud against the babyface group of Kevin Owens, The Big Show, and Samoa Joe. The Monday Night Messiah’s disciples recently had an upgrade with Buddy Murphy joining the mix.

With Buddy Murphy’s addition to the faction, he was able to make an immediate mark on the group. He recently won the Raw tag team titles with Seth Rollins against the Viking Raiders.

As the new faction builds in momentum, their counterparts seem to be in the position to add one more recruit to balance the matchup. It was revealed by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer’s Radio by way of Sportskeeda that Rey Mysterio was initially slated to join the babyface faction.

But at that time the former World Champion was in the middle of his feud with United States Champion Andrade Cien Almas. “I don’t know if this is going to happen, I know it was the original plan, was now that Rey lost the ladder match, Rey [Mysterio] would join in there with Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens against the AOP and Seth,” said Meltzer.

With the conclusion of their championship ladder match in the previous episode of Raw, this opens up the possibility of the luchador joining the feud. Seth Rollins’ faction already consists of him, two members of the AOP, and Buddy Murphy. The presence of Rey Mysterio evens the matchup of the two stables.

Also, Aleister Black might play a role in the coming rivalry if WWE continues his feud with Buddy Murphy. It was in their matches that solidified Buddy Murphy as a heel in the first place, with a losing streak causing an obsession to defeat Black. With the in-ring chemistry both have for each other, Monday Night Raw’s main feud might include the action-packed spots both athletes flawlessly execute.

With the possibility of these exciting new additions looming, both stables will now have a more diverse mix of wrestling styles in their respective groups. Monday Night Raw is surely one to look out for in the succeeding weeks for further development of the angle.
