KEY POINTS

  • Finn Balor is unlikely to come out as champion at WWE Extreme Rules 2021
  • Brock Lesnar can dictate who wins between Roman Reigns and Balor this weekend
  • The Reigns vs. Balor match will most likely end in a disqualification

Finn Balor will face WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event on Sunday, September 26.

However, it may not be a memorable one for “The Demon,” considering that "The Tribal Chief" already has a set date with Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel 2021.

Of course, this is subject to change if Balor somehow turns the tables on Reigns. Lesnar is likely to be around at Extreme Rules to distract or even dictate who wins the WWE Universal Title.

A most likely scenario is to see Balor win the match but by disqualification. It also leaves the door open to a potential rematch between the two at some point once the Lesnar storyline is over.

Given those scenarios, what would the future hold for Balor?

The best way to figure that out is to look at Balor’s past and also the faces that have been linked to Reigns. One name that comes to mind is Seth Rollins.

Recall that Rollins also has his eyes on the Universal Title and has intruded in some of his former Shield comrade’s matches.

Also, Rollins and Balor have a history as both tangled for the WWE Universal Title when it was first inaugurated in 2016.

Balor won but was forced to relinquish it due to an injury.

Known to make surprise appearances, Rollins could get involved in the raucous match and go after Balor.

There is a reason for him to get involved and create a storyline leading to the Universal Title.

Aside from that, Paul Heyman will be in close watch. Having handled Lesnar in the past and Reigns at the moment, the 56-year-old will be put in a spot.

Will Heyman turn on "The Tribal Chief" or stick with him? If he does turn, will this happen at WWE Extreme Rules 2021?
