KEY POINTS

  • Barca defeated Valencia 4-1 Sunday
  • Aubameyang scored a hat-trick
  • Barca have 42 points from 24 league games

Xavi Hernandez hailed Pedri, saying "there is nobody else in the world like" him after FC Barcelona's 4-1 victory over Valencia in La Liga on Sunday.

The 19-year-old, who once again produced a stand-out show, came off the bench and appeared to score an awe-inspiring goal from outside the area to put Barcelona 4-1 up at Mestalla Stadium. However, the goal was given to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the ball clipped the former Arsenal star's back.

The fourth goal meant Aubameyang registered his first hat-trick for Barcelona. Even though Pedri did not have his name on the goal chart, his performance was excellent in his manager's eyes.

"He [Pedri] gives us a pause, he doesn't lose the ball, he has to stand out, like he did today. He is superlative, in terms of talent there is nobody else in the world like Pedri. And he's only 19. We have asked him to take his shots, we demanded it. He has a good shot, he takes good free-kicks and he is very young and shy, but not just anybody has the ability that he has," Xavi said in a post-match interview on Sunday, according to Goal.com.

Pedri, who moved from Las Palmas to Barcelona in 2019, is counted amongst the most promising players in European soccer. He has scored two goals and an assist in 11 competitive appearances this season for the Catalans. The teenage sensation has a current market value of around $89 million, according to Transfermarkt.

Sergio Busquets: 'Aubameyang is a great player'

Meanwhile, Barcelona skipper Sergio Busquets is thrilled to have Aubameyang on his side, especially since the club signed the Gabon national on a free transfer.

"He's working really well, he came here needing minutes but he is getting them now. I hope he helps us like this because he is a great player and having him in the squad on a free transfer is a gift," Busquets explained to Movistar+ after the final whistle, according to Sportmob.

With 42 points in 24 matches, Barcelona are placed fourth in the 2021-22 La Liga table but have a game in hand.
