Xiaomi launched the long-awaited flagship Mi 5 recently. Early reviews say the Mi 4 successor is a power-packed device. The Huawei-built Nexus 6P, on the other hand, was released toward the end of last year offering stock Android experience with a metallic body in tow.

Both the devices are moderately priced and come with impressive configurations on board. Here is a comparison price, specs and features pertaining to Mi 5 and 6P.

Xiaomi Mi 5 vs. Nexus 6P: Price, Availability

Google’s Nexus 6P can be availed at a starting price of $499 for the 32 GB storage variant via Google Store. The 32 GB Xiaomi Mi 5, on the other hand, can be preordered for $439.99 via the prominent third-party vendor Gear Best. It is worth noting that Gear Best ships the ordered device to the U.S. free of charge and the shipping starts on April 15.

Xiaomi Mi 5 vs. Nexus 6P: Hardware, Software

Released in 2015, the Nexus 6P comes with Snapdragon 810 on board, whereas the Xiaomi handset is powered by the latest Snapdragon 820, which has already topped the benchmark test rankings.

To top it off, the Snapdragon 820 uses homegrown Qualcomm Kryo processor, which offers twice the performance and efficiency of the predecessor Snapdragon 810. Plus, X12 LTE reportedly offers three times faster upload speeds, in addition to providing 33 percent faster download speeds when compared to S810, Qualcomm noted.

When it comes to memory configuration, both Nexus 6P and Xiaomi Mi 5 come backed by 3 GB of RAM. However, the top-end 128 GB variant of Mi 5 packs 4 GB of RAM.

On the software front, both the handsets run Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. While the Nexus device offers stock Android experience, Xiaomi has customized the UI with the help of its own MIUI 7.

Xiaomi Mi 5 vs. Nexus 6P: Display, Design

The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 5.1-inch IPS LCD display and 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution, whereas the Nexus handset comes with a humongous AMOLED 5.7-inch display and a much-better 1,440 x 2,560 pixels QHD resolution.

Design-wise, Huawei has made use of full metal design for the Nexus 6P. The device comes with chamfered edges and the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 4 panel. The infamous antenna bands have been hidden in an aesthetic way, Trusted Reviews noted. To top it off, the rear panel is slightly curved, which makes it comfortable to hold.

The Xiaomi handset, on the other hand, comes with glossy glass back that curves into a metal frame running through the corners of the device and it has chamfered edges. The device has near-zero bezels on the sides of the display, which gives it a sophisticated look. As there is no full-metal construction, the Xiaomi handset apparently weighs lesser, The Verge noted.

Xiaomi Mi 5 vs. Nexus 6P: Battery, Camera

The Nexus 6P comes housed with a good 3,450 mAh battery unit, while the Xiaomi Mi 5 features a relatively lesser 3,000 mAh cell. Both the handsets have non-removable battery units onboard.

Camera-wise, the Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a 16-megapixel rear-facing sensor with OIS and dual-LED flash, while the Google handset carries a 12.3-megapixel snapper with dual-LED flash. At the front, the Nexus device has a generous 8-megapixel camera, while the Chinese tech giant has mounted a 4-megapixel shooter on the Mi 5.
