The second half of 2016 will begin soon and Xiaomi is prepping up to launch its new set of smartphones. Speculations are rife that the Chinese smartphone manufacture is working on two variants of Xiaomi Mi 5 namely, the Xiaomi Mi 5S and Xiaomi Mi 5 Mini.

Xiaomi Mi 5S

The Xiaomi Mi 5S will be an upgraded variant of the already released Mi 5 flagship. It is rumored to retain the same 5.15-inch full HD display that is available on Mi 5. Gizmo China has reported that according to a Chinese leakster on Weibo, the Mi 5S will be coming with a pressure-sensitive screen that will carry support for 3D Touch like functionality that is available on iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus smartphones.

The source has not revealed any information on the chipset of Mi 5S, but speculation suggest that its highest configuration model will be powered by Snapdragon 823 SoC that will be coupled with 6 GB of RAM.

It is expected to house a dual camera system on its rear panel. The smartphone is also expected to house an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, a feature that was pegged to arrive on Xiaomi Mi 5.

Xiaomi Mi 5 Mini

Recent rumors have revealed that Xiaomi Mi 5 Mini is also in works. It is speculated to feature a 4.3-inch HD display. It will be driven by Snapdragon 820 SoC and 3 GB of RAM. Other specs include 13-megapixel rear camera, a fingerprint scanner and a 2,350 mAh battery. It is rumored to be available with a starting price of $273.

Apart from these smartphones, the company is also expected to launch the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 flagship smartphone very soon. It is also rumored to be working on Xiaomi Redmi 4 smartphone. The Chinese firm is also speculated to release Xiaomi Notebook and Xiaomi Smarwatch in the near future.
