Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has told the Guardian newspaper that there are, indeed, some references to UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) that reamined a mystery.

Many weirdos e-mail us about UFOs or how they discovered... It is worth noting that in yet-to-be-published parts of the 'Cable Gate' archive there are indeed references to UFOs, he said.

However, the interview reflected Assange's focus on political issues than the UFO revelations as he stressed that the material had already passed through many people.

The first reference to UFOs in WikiLeaks appeared on Twitter and picked up by this newspaper ahead of the week-old saga began churning out cables on largely political diplomacy.

One of the documents expected to be released is likely to throw light on the extradition case of computer hacker Gary McKinnon, 44, with an autism disorder leading to obsessive behavior called Asperger's syndrome.

McKinnon was accused of hacking into military and NASA websites in 2001 and 2002. His extradition from the UK will land him in US jails after conviction for the rest of his life.

McKinnon had earlier calimed to have stumbled upon an image of a huge UFO hovering over the Earth's atmosphere in one of the websites he had accessed.
