2022 has been a busy year for video games and while the year isn't over, the holiday season is approaching. This means it's the perfect time to either gift or pick up a new game.

These are some of the biggest games and expansion packs of the year that have raked in rave reviews throughout the year.

"Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection"

Featuring a remastered "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" and "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" for the PS5 console, this collection put together by Sony has a solid 9/10 rating on Steam for PC players. GameStop and PC Gamer list it at 4.7/5 and 91%, respectively. The two titles included are standalone adventures for Nathan Drake and Chole Frazer, two adventurers and treasure hunters from the "Uncharted" series.

"Elden Ring"

Featuring writing by fantasy author George R. R. Martin and developed by both FromSoftware and Bandai Namco, this dark fantasy adventure passed an impressive sales milestone after selling 17. 5 million copies. Ratings for "Elden Ring" remain strong at a solid 9/10 on Steam and 94% on Metacritic, thanks to a combination of impressive writing and breathtaking visuals.

"A Plague Tale: Requiem"

The sequel to the award-winning "A Plague Tale: Innocence," this survival horror title surpassed one million players worldwide just one week after it was launched. Created by Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment, the game famously features hordes of more than 300,000 rats thanks to the studio's proprietary engine. This title's ratings are at 9/10 for Steam and 8/10 on IGN.

"Resident Evil Village: The Winters Expansion DLC"

The long-awaited expansion pack to the 10/10 Steam-rated "Resident Evil Village," this DLC features extra content and provides additional lore to the storyline in the main game. There's even an option to play as two of the Lords, one of them being the mutated countess Alcina Dimitrescu. The expansion pack sits with healthy ratings of 7/10 on Steam and 73% on Metacritic.

"God of War: Ragnarök"

With countless accessibility features packed in, "God of War: Ragnaök" has an impressive 10/10 rating on IGN followed by 94% on Metacritic. The action-adventure title is the newest installment in the "God of War" multimedia series that spans the Greek and Norse pantheons. Developed by Sony's Santa Monica Studio, "Ragnarök" bagged 4 game awards and was nominated for 6 in 2022 after its release. It given bagged "Most Wanted Game" in the 2020 Golden Joystick Awards before its release.
