“Fifty Shades of Grey” film star Jamie Dornan is turning the big 3-2 today and in honor of his birthday, we want to celebrate! As an ode to the Christian Grey actor’s big day, here are five of his most memorable quotes:

On his desire to secure a new film role

Dornan, whose “Fifty Shades” character is known for enjoying BDSM, also stars as serial killer with on the British TV series “The Fall.” Despite his recent success, the native Irish actor dished to The Guardian in April about his hopes of one day securing a role where he doesn’t have to torture women up for a living, saying, “I’d like to do a job where I don’t have to tie women to beds.”

On his distaste for fame

When prompted to discuss his two-year romance with “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" actress Kiera Knightly, Dornan shared his lack of affection for celebrity dome and the infamous photographers that follow them. “It’s a strange environment, being hounded. It’s really hideous,” Dornan recently told London's Evening Standard, adding. “The paparazzi are cretins. There are so many ways to make a living that don’t involve hiding in bushes outside the houses of 18-year-old girls.”

On winning the “Fifty Shades” role

Following the departure of former “Fifty Shades” star Charlie Hunnam last October, Dornan said it was impossible to play it cool while waiting to learn if he had won the role. “I was sort of pretending I wasn’t waiting, but the phone was in my hand, halfway to my ear,” Dornan told Entertainment Weekly in November, also dishing that he received the coveted call in the dead of night from the film’s director, Sam Taylor-Johnson. “There was a slight fear, but beyond anything else, I was really f—king excited," he said.

On his “funny” walk

Dornan’s role as fictional billionaire Christian Grey may have made him one of the most desirable actor’s in Hollywood, but according to the star, his self-classified “funny” walk has always made him a bit self-conscious. “Basically, I have always had a complex with the way I walk,” Dornan confessed on “The Graham Norton Show” in February. “I’ve not always been told that I have a bad walk but someone has always commented on my walk. It’s always been a bit like, ‘Alright, so that’s how you walk.’”

On filming "Fifty Shades" sex scenes

While a majority of A-lister stars turned down the opportunity to star as sex-obsessed Christian Grey, Dornan said the E.L. James book’s sex scenes were not an issue for him to act out to the big screen. “I grew up in a very liberal place,” Dornan told EW. “I’m not saying we had a playroom, but I’m not shocked by [the sex in the book]. It’s essential to tell the story. I can’t believe films that don’t invoke a sexual side of it. So it works for me.”
