Did “Fifty Shades of Grey” author E.L. James just reveal the latest casting scoop for the movie? Some of her Twitter followers believe so!
The author of the hit kinky book series about billionaire Christian Grey and innocent Anastasia Steele has been very active on Twitter, where she spoke about casting announcements for the upcoming movie adaptation of her novel. And with filming for “Fifty Shades of Grey” about to start shooting, fans have been begging the author to reveal who has landed the coveted role of Elena … or “Mrs. Robinson.”
For those unfamiliar with the “Twilight” fan fiction series that is "Fifty Shades of Grey," Elena is one of Christian Grey’s business partners … and the woman who got him interested in S&M when he was just a teen. When Anastasia Steele found out about Elena’s inappropriate relationship with Christian she labeled the woman “Mrs. Robinson.” Needless to say the two butt heads over Christian throughout the three novels.
Actresses like Katie Holmes and “True Blood’s” Kristin Bauer Van Straten have been linked to the role of Elena / Mrs. Robinson, yet no official casting announcement has been made. But is another star in the running for the role?
Thanks to Twitter, the latest actress to throw her name in the ring is “Charmed” alum Rose McGowan.

Shortly after E.L. James replied:
The tweet exchange began an immediate frenzy for “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans, with one Twitter user asking the author, “Omg is she going to be part of the movie?!?! Because that would be amazing!!!!!” Another fan asked if “gravy on both hands” was “#notaeuphamism?” James coyly responded with a simple winky face.
While McGowan seems like an obvious fit for Elena / Mrs. Robinson since the character is supposed to be in her late 30s to early 40s, she doesn’t match Elena’s “regal” platinum blonde. The actress could always dye her hair like Dakota Johnson just did to match Anastasia Steel’s dark locks, or it's possible that Rose McGowan could be up for another role. Other “Fifty Shades” characters who have yet to be cast include Ella, Christian’s deceased drug-addict biological mother, or Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, Christian’s adoptive mother.
Do you think Rose McGowan is joining the cast of “Fifty Shades of Grey”? Or do you think E.L. James was just on a dinner date with McGowan? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
