The 63rd International Motor Show (IAA 2009) will officially opened by German Chancellor Merkel on September 17 and last for ten days amid the global economic downturn that has hit the automotive industry hard.

With the theme A Moving Experience, the IAA 2009 will attract the big brands that present global developments, among which German manufacturers like BMW or Opel, with its new Opel Astra and Meriva.

A total of 700 exhibitors, including more than 60 automakers from all over the globe, are expected to present numerous world premieres at this year's show. One of the most eagerly awaited will be the SLS AMG Mercedes Gullwing, a sporty two-seater. The IAA 2009 also will witness the global launch of the Aston Martin Rapide sedan and the new Ferrari F450.

Here we will find answers to the demands of today and the challenges of tomorrow, Matthias Wissmann, President of the Verband der Automobilindustrie (German Association of the Automotive Industry) said. Therefore, the companies tackling this competition in innovation are especially well represented this year.

The IAA is the world's most comprehensive show for the whole industry, which makes it the international platform for all those who develop, manufacture or use passenger cars.
