Another associate of Aaron Hernandez has been arrested in connection with the ex-football player’s murder case. Oscar Hernandez, who is not related to Aaron Hernandez, has been taken into federal custody.

The 23-year-old has been indicted by a federal grand jury for obstruction of justice, witness tampering and lying under oath. The charges stem from a gun-trafficking investigation that is related to the death Odin Lloyd, whom Aaron Hernandez allegedly killed.

Oscar Hernandez, nicknamed "Papoo," faces charges because of three guns that authorities discovered, in their investigation into Lloyd’s death. He has been linked to an investigation involving the transportation of guns from Florida to Massachusetts.

None of the three firearms are thought to be the murder weapon. According to court records, one of the guns was found in the back of a car that was parked in Aaron Hernandez’s garage on June 22, 2013. Lloyd died five days earlier.

In addition to the murder charge, the former New England Patriot faces five weapons charges. Prosecutors allege that he shot and killed Lloyd, though the murder weapon has yet to be retrieved. When Aaron Hernandez allegedly returned from the scene of the crime, surveillance footage shows him holding a gun, while in his house.

Oscar Hernandez joins a long list of the former NFL player’s associates that have been arrested. His fiancée has been accused of perjury, while his cousin faces charges of criminal contempt and conspiracy to commit accessory after the fact. Aaron Hernandez’s accomplices, Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace, who were allegedly with the killer on the night of Lloyd’s death, have also been hit with murder charges.

According to Aaron Hernandez’s lawyers, Oscar was interviewed by police on June 27, 2013, a day after the ex-NFL star was arrested.
