Club hits and techno tunes dominating the airwaves, but British soul singer Adele is casually making her mark on the Billboard 200 chart. The retro-leaning artist, who channels raw emotion with every note, has claimed the number one spot on the album sales chart for the last 17 weeks. Not since The Bodyguard soundtrack was on top for 20 weeks in 1993 has anybody come close to that number, according to Billboard. Adele's album, 21, which was released last February, sold 95,000 copies in the past week alone.

In addition to that, the album's single Set Fire to the Rain has risen to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 song chart, which measures radio airplay and sales. The song has knocked out Rihanna's We Found Love featuring Calvin Harris, which held the number one position for 10 ten weeks, Billboard reported.

Back to the album chart, Kidz Bop 21 is making its debut at the number two spot with 69,000 units sold. El Camino by The Black Keys holds the number three spot (29,000 units sold), while Drake's Take Care remains at number four, also selling 29,000 units in the last week. Rounding out the top five is Rihanna's Talk That Talk, which is up two slots from last week.

New albums from Tim McGraw (Emotional Traffic), Celtic Woman (Belive) and Kellie Pickler (100 Proof), along with annual 2012 Grammy Nominees compilation, go on sale this week. With all of the competition, could 21 claim another week at the top? We'll just have to wait and see.
