“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is likely to have some intense drama before leaving for summer hiatus, but not everyone is miserable. One character has done a complete turnaround from where she was last season. Daisy Johnson won’t be questioning her future with the team this year, and it even sounds like she’s more confident than ever in the Season 4 finale.

Daisy/Quake actress Chloe Bennet revealed that her character will not be taking another hiatus. After ditching the team last year, Daisy went solo, but a confrontation with the guilt-ridden Fitz (Iain DeCaestecker) — who was a murderous Hydra leader in the Framework — really indicates where she is headed.

“Daisy has this moment in the end of the finale where she really I think grows as a leader. … Daisy has a moment where she connects with [Fitz], and we see all the work that Coulson has done, nurturing her and guiding her,” Bennet told Entertainment Weekly. “I think fans will be happy and pleasantly surprised. There’s a sense of happiness and a sense of I know for sure this is where I’m supposed to be, this is my family, this is why I was put here.”

That doesn’t mean the darkness is gone, though. Daisy and Ghost Rider/Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) will team up, and it wasn’t their contentment and sense of belonging that bonded them. “They have this camaraderie that other people don’t have,” Bennet added. “They understand the level of darkness and sadness that they both can talk to each other about without actually having to say anything.”

Ghost Rider just returned from a world created by the Darkhold, and hopefully that means he’ll have some knowledge on how to defeat the evil power. It’s the same force that Aida (Mallory Jansen) used to create her human body and give herself Inhuman powers. After having her heart broken by Fitz, she is determined to destroy the team and the world. Ghost Rider and Daisy will have to stop her in the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” finale.

Aida’s real world presence isn’t the only threat, though. Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) jumped into the Framework to save Mack (Henry Simmons) without any preparation. She woke up in restraints, so it looks like she’ll have to fight to survive before she can find her man. Convincing him to leave his daughter for a life he can’t remember will be difficult.

Not every storyline will be finished. The “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 4 finale is going to end on a cliffhanger. “Well, I would say every season, we try to bring the season arc to a conclusion, but we’ve also tried to then launch, we try to launch something new,” executive producer Jeffrey Bell teased to IGN.

The producers also revealed that the end of the finale should give viewers an idea of where the team will be headed next season since the base was essentially destroyed. Luckily, ABC renewed “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” for Season 5, so fans will see the cliffhanger resolved this fall.

The “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 4 finale airs Tuesday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
