“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 5 is going to start off in space, and it doesn’t seem like they’ll be heading back anytime soon. The new promo photos make it look like Coulson and his agents will be in space for a while, and they do not appear to be happy about it.

ABC released the new pictures Monday, and the characters don’t look too cheerful. Clearly, this is not a “Guardians of the Galaxy”-type adventure. Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) looks particularly distraught. The scientist has been to space before. She spent months on Maveth trying to escape, and she isn’t going to be thrilled about being away from Earth again.

At least she isn’t alone, though. Most of the team will be on the space station with her.

Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) is looking like she’s in rough shape. Fans who saw the 17-minute sneak peak from the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 5 premiere know that the bandage around her leg is a bad injury that she gets early in the premiere.

The group shot also shows that Mack (Henry Simmons) will find weapons wherever he can. He is carrying a sledgehammer in the photo. It’s no shotgun ax, but it’ll have to do for now. He already knows he needs the weapon. The team finds out quickly that they have to run from the Vrellnexians, also known as Roaches.

Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) looks ready for battle with aliens too. Yo-Yo and Mack have a budding romance, so it’s fitting that their solo shots were taken in the same doorway.

Coulson (Clark Gregg) also looks like he is brooding. It’s worth noting that the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t actually have his fancy fake hand that’s technologically advanced. He thought he was going to be arrested, so he left the helpful cybernetic piece at home.

Daisy (Chloe Bennet) doesn’t look quite as dreary as her friends. She got a cool space outfit that looks a little less utilitarian than her friends.

Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is in these photos, but remember, these aren’t episode stills. It might be a while before Fitz and Simmons are together again. For some reason, Fitz isn’t sent to space with the group.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 5 is switching nights. It’ll be on Fridays at 9 p.m. EST, but the two-hour season premiere will start at a special time, 8 p.m. EST. Season 5 premieres Friday, Dec. 1.
