Are you ready to enter the “Freak Show”? Season 4 of “American Horror Story” is set to premiere on FX Wednesday, Oct. 8, introducing viewers to a terrifying new tale.

Like the three seasons before it, “Freak Show” features “AHS” fan favorites -- like Jessica Lange, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson -- but in an all-new setting. This year, “Freak Show” will be set in 1952, in Jupiter, Florida. Jupiter is considered a quiet, sleepy town, but the arrival of a “troupe of curiosities” coincides with the “strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike.”

The Season 4 premiere will introduce fans to one of the only surviving sideshows in the country. With the “dawning era of television,” the sideshow is struggling to stay in business. But fortunately for the performers, things might be turning around for them. According to the episode 1 synopsis, the “eccentric purveyor of the freak show” will see an opportunity to lead her troupe “either into salvation or ruin” after the police make a “terrifying discovery at a local farmhouse.”

From the same series that brought you frightening villains like Rubber Man and Bloody Face, this year fans can look forward to meeting “Twisty the Clown,” who is played by “American Horror Story” newcomer John Carroll Lynch. Twisty is a retired clown -- and murderer -- who is “not thrilled by the arrival of the freak show.”
