“American Horror Story” Season 5 is two episodes deep, and all fans can think about is the introduction of Angela Bassett’s mysterious character, Ramona Royale. The 57-year-old actress, who has appeared on two previous seasons of the FX anthology series, has not yet made her way on screen in “Hotel”; however, she’ll make a grand entrance in episode 3.
As previously reported, episode 3, titled “Mommy,” will explore more of Alex’s (Chloë Sevigny) internal struggles after her son Holden is brought up. She previously believed he was dead after being abducted; however, her young daughter returned home to reveal that Holden is alive -- and at Hotel Cortez. Meanwhile, Donovan (Matt Bomer) will find himself in a bit of trouble after being dumped by Countess Elizabeth (Lady Gaga). He’ll leave Hotel Cortez to feed his ancient blood virus. However, his intended victim turns out to be Ramona -- a “dangerous rival” of his ex.
Who exactly is Ramona? And what does she want with Countess Elizabeth? Check out everything we know about the mysterious new “Hotel” addition below:
Bassett revealed at the Television Critics Association over the summer that her character was a “fabulous actress.” However, her days in front of the cameras are over. Bassett confirmed to TV Guide that Ramona is “retired right now.”
Like the many other characters that “American Horror Story” fans have already met, Bassett was once a resident of Hotel Cortez. It’s not clear why she moved out; however, Entertainment Weekly reports that she used to “have a romantic relationship with The Countess.” Perhaps she was once in Donovan’s shoes and forced to move out?
Ramona wants revenge! Bassett revealed that her character is on the outs with Countess Elizabeth and teams up with Donovan to take her down. Together the two will work together to find The Countess’ “vulnerable spot.”
“I need a little help to infiltrate ... because I stand out,” Bassett dished to EW.
Ramona’s desire for revenge means that she may “be at odds” with The Countess’ newest love interest, Tristan (Finn Wittrock).
The Ancient Blood Virus
If Ramona was The Countess’ lover, does that mean that she too has the ancient blood virus? Bassett would not confirm or deny. “I think we’ll have to wait and see,” she teased TV Guide.
