The promotional videos for Season 6 of FX’s “American Horror Story” keep rolling in, each one more terrifying than the last. So far more than six clips have been released and fans are still in the dark about the theme of the season — which is exactly what writers were hoping for.

FX released another clip on Thursday, furthering fan confusion about Season 6. The promo stars six children who are shown sitting at their school desks out in a field and slamming their fists in anger. A close up reveals something is off with the children, showing their blackened eyes and expressionless faces. Many, including writers at Entertainment Weekly, have likened the trailer to “Children of the Corn.”

The continued release of trailers has left fans questioning who will appear in the series. In previous years, the show has brought back a core group of stars, which some are hoping will continue into Season 6. A number of “American Horror Story” actors — including Angela Bassett, Lady Gaga, Cheyenne Jackson, Kathy Bates, Matt Bomer and more — have signed on while others, like Sarah Paulson, remain up in the air. On Tuesday, creator Ryan Murphy announced on Twitter that he and Paulson would be teaming up for another project, but made no mention of a role for her in “American Horror Story.” Paulson will play Geraldine Page in his latest project, “Feud,” which focuses on the bad blood between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.

While the cast comes together fans continue speculating about what the differing promotional videos mean. Landgraf revealed early this month that the FX team made a decision to release differing trailers to throw fans off. He said that just one of the many videos actually reveals the true theme, but viewers will have to wait until the show premieres to find out which one is real. After his statement, some speculated that the clips were related somehow. Others suggested that they were based off classic horror films.

What do you think this season’s theme is? “American Horror Story” Season 6 premieres Sept. 14 on FX.
