Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment on Saturday, making her a member of the mysterious 27 Club made up of talented and troubled musicians who died at the age of 27.

Many had feared Winehouse might have been headed for a tragic end. The effusively talented singer had become better known for her struggles with alcohol and drugs, her marital squabbles, and runins with the law than her musical career - she was recently booed off a stage in Serbia because she was too incoherent to perform at level acceptable to fans.

Despite her personal troubles, Winehouse made an indelible mark on music history with her throwback songwriting style and extraordinary singing voice - one that didn't at all seem to match her petite and often-frail looking frame.

Police are labeling the cause of death unexplained until an autopsy is completed.
