The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is now updating to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, featuring Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 custom interface. The Chinese manufacturer shared details of the update on its forum Thursday.

While many Xiaomi handsets are or will update to Android Nougat, the Redmi Note 3 is more of a midrange device and originally ran Android Lollipop. Therefore an update to the next following version makes sense.

The MH0MIDI build, wireless update will bring to the Redmi Note 3 such features as the three-finger swipe screenshot capture and privacy protection passwords, among others. Also touting the November Android security update, users can expect many bug fixes and optimizations.

Users can access the update manually by accessing Settings > About Phones> System Updates or by downloading and flashing the software provided by Xiaomi.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 model getting the update features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chip. Other features on the smartphone include a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB and 32GB of internal storage options, a 16-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera, a fingerprint scanner and a 4,050 mAh battery.
