Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and HTC One M8 users on Verizon are now receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Verizon Galaxy Note 5 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update

Samsung has officially rolled out Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for unlocked editions of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users. However, the update is still not available for their carrier variants. Moreover, the Android 6.0 upgrade is yet to be available for unlocked and carrier variants of 2016 flagships like Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. However, Verizon has jumped the gun and released the much awaited software upgrade for its Galaxy Note 5 users.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update with build number MMB29K.N920VVRU2BPB2 is now available for Verizon Galaxy Note 5 users. The update includes the latest version of TouchWiz UI and other apps from Samsung such Internet 4.0 web browser and Cross App multitasking. The upgrade also brings exclusive features from Verizon such as Wi-Fi Calling and YouTube Live.

Verizon HTC One M8 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update

According to a tweet from the senior VP and product manager with HTC, Mo Versi, owners of HTC One M8 will start receiving the Android 6.0 upgrade from March 7. Another tweet from him also revealed that T-Mobile HTC One M8 will also be upgraded to Android 6.0 from Monday.

The HTC One M8 is a smartphone that was released two years ago with Android 4.4 KitKat. Since then, it has received software upgrades such as Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 5.0 Lollipop, Verizon has not released the Android 6.0 upgrade for the newer HTC One M9 that was released last year.

Since Verizon has started the Android 6.0 OTA upgrade for multiple smartphones, other carriers from the U.S. are also expected to release the software update soon for its users. The users of Verizon Galaxy Note 5 and HTC One M8 will be receiving Android M update in phases, which means all the users won’t receive it at the same time.
