Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie married in France Saturday after falling for each other on the set of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” in 2005, a spokesperson confirmed to the Associated Press. The couple had previously said they would not get married until same-sex marriage was legal across the United States.

"We both have been married before, so it's not marriage that's necessarily kept some people together," Jolie told People in 2006. "We are legally bound to our children, not to each other, and I think that's the most important thing."

The famous couple, dubbed “Brangelina,” began dating after Pitt announced his separation from fellow actor Jennifer Aniston. They now have six children. They got engaged in April 2012. "We're getting a lot of pressure from the kids [to get married]. We didn't realize how much it meant to them and then, in getting engaged, how much it also means to us," Pitt told E! at the time.

Jolie was previously married to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. She and Thornton divorced in 2002.
