Are those wedding bells we here? Rumors have been swirling about the status of Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s relationship since long before they confirmed they were dating in November 2015 — namely, whether they planned to tie the knot.

A recent report from People magazine suggests marriage is in the future for the couple, who appeared on “The Voice” as co-judges in Season 9. A source close to the pair has assured the publication that Shelton, 40, and Stefani “are not engaged yet,” though it may not be far off. The source added that they are “very happy,” noting that the former No Doubt singer is “giddy” when talking about her beau. It seems scheduling may be what’s holding their relationship back, as Stefani, 46, is currently out on tour.

“It seems the timing [for an engagement] just hasn’t been right,” the source said. “But Gwen is very, very happy with Blake. She always acts giddy when she talks about Blake.”

Weddings don’t come cheap — fortunately Shelton and Stefani can rely on the steady income from his time on “The Voice.” NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt was asked during the summer Television Critics Association press tour whether Shelton and/or Adam Levine would ever leave the popular music competition series. He assured fans that for a number of reasons, including “the paycheck,” neither would be swapped out as judges on “The Voice.” Greenblatt compared the show to a sitcom, explaining that there is a core cast and supporting stars — in this case Ceelo Green, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera and Stefani are the fade away characters.

“If I can compare it to a scripted show, you kind of have your series regulars that you love. They are always hugely popular whenever we do testing and we’ve done a fair amount of that over 11 cycles,” he explained (via Entertainment Tonight). “We think they’re the pillars of the show and then we have this revolving family of Gwen [Stefani], Pharrell, now Miley [Cyrus] and Alicia [Keys] joining the pack.”

It’s worth noting that this is not the first time marriage rumors — or really, any type of rumor — has swirled about Shelton and Stefani. Most of the hearsay likely came to exist due to both parties insistence on being secretive about their relationship. Shelton recently appeared on an episode of “Chelsea,” a Netflix talk show hosted by Chelsea Handler, where he revealed that he’s afraid to talk too much about Stefani because he may jinx it. He did, however, tell Handler that he is happier than he’s ever been with the soulful songstress.

“There’s no question about that. Absolutely no question about that,” he said.

Stefani shared similar sentiments in an interview with Harper's Bazaar. She told the publication that meeting Shelton, who divorced wife Miranda Lambert around the same time she and husband Gavin Rossdale called it quits, felt like “being handed this gift of a friend who was going through the exact same thing as the exact same time.” Stefani said it helped to have him by her side though the ups and downs of divorce and it brought them closer.

“It went from horrible to, like, hopeful and like, Wow, God, you just don’t know what’s gonna happen next,” she said.
