‘Are You The One?’ Season 5 Spoilers: Perfect Match Reveal In Episode 5 Leads To Scandalous Hookup [RECAP]

The Season 5 cast of “Are You the One?” founds its first perfect match on Wednesday’s installment. Find out who headed into the truth booth on the MTV series and which cast member was left heartbroken in episode 5, “Sex, Lies and Truth Booths.”

Back at the House

Fresh off another successful matchup ceremony the house starts mixing strategy with love. Shannon and Tyler are confident they could have been one of the matches, while Taylor recognizes that she and Andre have a lot in common. Taylor says she can’t see Andre hurting her like Tyler did.

Elsewhere, Alicia reveals Eddie considers her and Kam his “potential” matches. Alicia says she and Kam are friends and they would never disrespect each other during the process.

The Challenge

Host Ryan Devlin decides to test the casts’ honesty with the game Liar Liar, Pants On Fire. The competition has them playing guys vs. girls and answering a series of questions while hooked up to a lie detector. Ryan says the most truthful team will be awarded the winners and four players will be headed on a getaway date.

When the girls team wins, Kam and Kari are awarded the getaway date spots. Kam picks Edwards and Kari picks Mike. Alicia tells the cameras she wishes she had Kam’s spot.

House Drama

After promising the house they will split up in episode 4, Gianna and Hayden struggle being apart. While Carolina complains she can’t get to know Hayden with Gianna in the way, Gianna is shown secretly flirting with Michael.

Meanwhile, Eddie says he’s convinced he and Kam are going to the truth booth. Eddie talks to Alicia ahead of his getaway date and Alicia says she doesn’t want to be unloyal to Kam.

The Dates

The date sends the two couples on a romantic cruise. Kari tells Mike she picked him because she wanted to get to know away from the distractions in the house. She also makes it clear she doesn’t find his decision to hook up during the first night attractive. Mike says he wants a girl that will put him in his place.

Meanwhile, Kam and Edward bond over their desire to connect with someone mentally before connecting physically. Kam says she’s confident she’s what Edward needs and says she’ll be there for him no matter what the truth booth says.

The Truth Booth

Alicia wants to vote in Edward and Kam into the booth so she can find out once and for all if she has a chance with him. What follows is the reveal that the cast has voted them to go into the truth booth over Mike and Kari. Ryan says the $150,000 truth booth trade is not an option this time around.

Kam and Edward are in shock when they learn they are indeed a perfect match. After learning their fate, they celebrate with the rest of the house, including Alicia. Alicia gives Kam a hug and says she’s so happy for her that she “got the best one.” Alicia tells the cameras she’s unhappy Edward is not her match and it will hurt her to see him leave the house for the honeymoon suite.

Alicia & Edward Continue

Despite being confirmed as Kam’s perfect match, Alicia and Edward raise suspicions later that night when they “sneak off” together to get water and go to the bathroom. When Kam and Tyranny go looking for Alicia and Edward in the kitchen, they are nowhere to be found. The cameras find Alicia and Edward kissing and Alicia commenting that Kam is going to hate her.

When Alicia admits she kissed Edward the following morning, Tyranny lets her know she’s disgusted by her actions. When Kam pulls Alicia aside to talk, she reminds her that she isn’t the only guilty party and apologizes for kissing Edward. Kam says Alicia she crossed the line for kissing her match and doesn’t accept her apology. Edward tells Kam he just wanted to enjoy his last night in the house.

Matchup Ceremony

Kam reveals the house that Edward hooked up with Alicia after the truth booth ceremony. Alicia tells the house she and Edward only kissing during the ceremony only to tell the cameras they also had sex.

The ceremony stats with one beam of light, but that doesn’t count towards avoiding the blackout. The beams ultimately reveal that there are four perfect matches out of 11 in their midst.
