Arrow Season 6
“Arrow” was renewed for Season 6. CW

“Arrow” hasn’t shot its last target yet. The CW drama was renewed for Season 6 Sunday.

The show is the oldest of the superhero dramas currently on The CW. It paved the way for “The Flash” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” which — along with “Supergirl” — were renewed as well.

“Arrow” stars took to Twitter to react to the news. Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, kept his reaction short and sweet.

Meanwhile, Echo Kellum, who plays Mr. Terrific/Curtis Holt, preferred to show his excitement via emojis.

John Barrowman, who plays Malcolm Merlyn, congratulated all of the superhero shows on their happy news.

Not much is known about “Arrow” Season 6 yet because Season 5 still hasn’t finished. The show returns to the CW with its winter premiere on Jan. 25. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Oliver will be targeting the evil Prometheus.

While it isn’t clear if Prometheus will be on the show in Season 6, fans know that at least one element will wrap up in Season 5 — the flashbacks. The original plan was for the series to end with the final flashback being the scene from the pilot when a boat rescues Ollie from Lian Yu. “Spoiler alert. That’s going to end up being the Season 5 finale,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim told TVLine.

The writers are extending their plans for present day Oliver, but they aren’t dragging out his past. “I wouldn’t want to artificially extend the flashbacks [beyond five seasons],” he said. “And I also wouldn’t want to artificially cut the show short. It would’ve been a beautifully elegant thing, and Five Years Ago Me would’ve loved it. But things change, and I do think it’ll make the Season 5 finale pretty awesome.”

“Arrow” and the DC Comics shows aren’t the only ones that The CW renewed. “Crazy-Ex Girlfriend” and “Jane the Virgin” were also granted third and fourth seasons, respectively. “Supernatural” was also renewed for Season 13.
