Arrow Season 5
“Arrow” star Stephen Amell dropped an ominous teaser for the Season 5 premiere. CW

“Arrow” Season 5 is going to have plenty of action, but will the new episodes kick off with a death? Stephen Amell’s recent teaser for the premiere may leave some fans concerned.

The actor, who plays Oliver Queen/the Green Arrow, was asked to describe the premiere with emojis. Amell chose a fist and a skull. It’s the latter that has viewers worried.

Could a skull hint at a death? The CW drama proved that they aren’t afraid to kill their beloved characters in Season 4. Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) was killed by Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) last spring, and she might not be the last friend of Oliver’s to die.

If there is another death, it might not be at the hands of a villain. One of the many new heroes that “Arrow” Season 5 will introduce is Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez). As previously reported, the former Marine is pretty reckless and known for liberally using his machine gun until his enemies are taken out. It certainly sounds like a method that could leave a lot of bodies lying around Star City, and Oliver isn’t going to be thrilled with Wild Dog’s tactics.

While the skull leaves us with many questions, the first part of Amell’s emoji answer isn’t difficult to figure out. Amell has been teasing an action-packed premiere for weeks. The actor tweeted in June that producers told him, “You have 21 days to get as ripped as you've ever been for the most vicious ‘oner’ in the history of network tv. No stunt double.”

A oner refers to a shot that involves no cuts. “Marvel’s Daredevil” Season 1 famously did a hallway fight scene that was a oner. Amell seems to be preparing to outdo the Netflix drama. He has been keeping fans updated on his intense workouts via Twitter and Snapchat.

Audiences might get more hints about the “Arrow” Season 5 premiere when the cast appears at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 23. New episodes will debut Wednedsay, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
