English Premier League club Arsenal are reportedly chasing Portuguese club Academica's Guinea-Bissau-born striker Ederzito. The club are hoping to sign the player on a free transfer, when his current contract expires - at the end of the current season.

The Gunners are fully aware of the situation and will want to make full use of the condition to avoid breaking the bank. The Gunners boss', Arsene Wenger, is also believed to have sent chief scout Steve Rowley to monitor the player.

Wenger has been non-committal about his plans to sign a striker in the January transfer window. However, reports suggest he will act at the end of the season. The club will have to compensate for outgoing striker Maroune Chamakh and Ederzito may be one his options.

The London club will have to move fast, as Portuguese champions Porto are also interested in acquiring the player's services, according to a Metro report.
