An ice cream - named Baby Gaga- made from human breast milk is said to have been seized from a London parlor by local authorities over safety concerns.

The Icecreamists shop started selling the new flavor, priced at 14 pounds ($23), on Friday.

Local officials on the Westminster City Council decided to confiscate the ice cream that was made with human breast milk after two complaints were filed over whether a shop should be selling edibles made from other people's bodily fluids. The city council is awaiting guidance from Britain's Food Standards Agency.

There is some concern that several dangerous viruses, contaminants and diseases can be contracted through breastmilk.

The company shot back, claiming the donated milk was screened before being pasteurized.

As far as we are aware there is no law prohibiting a business from selling breast milk ice cream, said Icecreamists founder Matt O'Connor.

The new recipe blends the breast milk with Madagascan vanilla pods and lemon zest, which is then freshly churned into ice cream.

It is illegal to sell breastmilk online, privately and through retail networks in the United States.
