A 20-inch pencil-thin Egyptian cobra, which escaped from the Bronx Zoo in New York last week, is giving Charlie Sheen and Lady Gaga tough competition on Twitter.

A twitter account created by an anonymous user under the name BronxZoosCobra had more than 120,000 followers by early Wednesday.

Getting my morning coffee at the Mudtruck. Don't even talk to me until I've had my morning coffee. Seriously, don't. I'm venomous, BronxZoosCobra posted. On top of the Empire State Building! All the people look like little mice down there. Delicious little mice.

Here are some of the other funnier tweets: Can you hear me now? RT @SteveMartinToGo Phone rings. Caller ID: Bronx Zoo. It’s the snake. Hard to hear. Lots of hissing on line. Taking the Sex and the City Tour!!! I'm totally a SSSamantha.

The Reptile House at the Bronx Zoo closed Friday after zoo workers could not find the Egyptian cobra missing from an off-exhibit enclosure. Zoo workers are confident the venomous cobra is still in the Reptile House.

Right now, it's the snake's game, Bronx Zoo Director Jim Breheny said in a statement. At this point, it's just like fishing; you put the hook in the water and wait. Our best strategy is patience, allowing her time to come out of hiding.

The holding areas of the reptile house are extremely complex environments with pumps, motors and other mechanical systems, Breheny said. In this complex environment, she will likely remain in hiding and not move until she feels completely secure. As her comfort level rises, she will begin to move around the building to seek food and water.
