Bristol Palin paid more than $200,000 as abstinence ambassador

Us Weekly is reporting that Bristol Palin made $262,000 as an abstinence ambassador. Palin made the money as the Candie's Foundation's spokeswoman.

Now 20 years old, Palin was famously pregnant with her then-boyfriend Levi Johnston during her mother Sarah Palin, and John McCain's 2008 run for the White House.

Palin gave birth to her son Tripp in December 2009 when she was 18 years old. Palin's pregnancy caused a lot of controversy due to her mother's strong stance on abstinence-only sex education for teens.

The exact amount Palin was paid was revealed from a Candie's Foundation tax form from 2009.

The Candie's Foundation, which was founded in 2001, aims to shape the way youth in America think about teen pregnancy and parenthood.

Neil Cole, CEO and chairman of Candie's defends the fashion line's choice to promote abstinence.

"Just because you're wearing high-heeled sexy shoes doesn't mean you should have a baby," he said.

Palin obviously made more money than that in the past year as she was a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars."
