While President Barack Obama honored fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, a showdown took place between two unlikely groups: the Ku Klux Klan and the Westboro Baptist Church protestors.

The Knights of the Southern Cross, a Virginia group that claims to be affiliated with the KKK, squared off against the Westboro Baptist Church outside Arlington National Cemetery, hours before a Memorial Day service.

The Kansas-based church, who has attracted nationwide attention for its anti-gay protests at the funerals of U.S. military members, CNN reported, were holding signs that read Pray for more dead soldiers and God hates your prayers.

The controversial church group, who reportedly garnered little attention, was met by about 70 counter protestors.

It's the soldier that fought and died and gave them that right to free speech, said Dennis LaBonte, the self-described Imperial Wizard of the KKK group said, objecting to the Westboro Baptist Church's anti-troop message.

That's fine, countered Abigail Phelps, the daughter of the Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps. They have no moral authority on anything.

People like them say it's white power ... white supremacy, Phelps said. The Bible doesn't say anywhere that it's an abomination to born of a certain gender or race.
