Kate Middleton, whose dress code and fashion sense during her eleven-day Royal Tour to Canada and California has been closely monitored, however, surprised her royal fans today with her clothing choice.

For the first time during the tour, the 29-year old Duchess opted for a designer who was neither British-based nor from Canada. Normally, when on official tour, royals and diplomats usually opt for either native designers or from the country to be visited.

Kate's structured cream dress which she wore on Day 6 was by a Danish label called Malene Birger. The three-quarter sleeve dress by the designer was complimented by a contrast waistband in olive green shade.

Other designers whose collections were often used during the Royal Tour were London-based Canadian designer Erdem, Sarah Burton from Alexander McQueen and Reiss.
