Pakistan’s top government officials have both condemned the bomb blasts that have struck the Indian financial hub of Mumbai and killed at least 13 people and wounded dozens of others.

Three separately blasts hit Mumbai, suggesting it was the work of organized terrorists.

“President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, the government and the people of Pakistan, have condemned the blasts in Mumbai and expressed distress on the loss of lives and injuries,” the Pakistan foreign ministry said in a statement.

“The President and the Prime Minister have expressed their deepest sympathies to the Indian leadership.”

The foreign ministers of India and Pakistan (SM Krishna and Shah Mehmood Qureshi) are expected to meet in late July in New Delhi to re-start peace talks between the two nuclear South Asian giants.

The prior peace negotiations were severed after the deadly bomb blasts of November 2008 which killed almost 170 people in Mumbai. That atrocity was carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba militants who are based on Pakistan.
