Tony Bennett, the famous singer who left his heart in San Francisco, made some controversial remarks about Sept. 11 and former President George W. Bush on Howard Stern’s radio program on Monday night.

Appearing on the Sirius Radio show, the 85-year-old crooner said that “we caused” the terrorist attacks on 9-11 and that Bush admitted to him that launching the war in Iraq was wrong.

After Stern asked the singer how the U.S. should deal with terrorists, Bennett replied: They flew the plane in, but we caused it. Because we were bombing them and they told us to stop.

ABC News reported that Bennett also said: But who are the terrorists? Are we the terrorists or are they the terrorists? Two wrongs don't make a right.

He also indicated that when he met with Bush at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC in 2005, the former president told me personally that night that, he said, 'I think I made a mistake.'

Bennett thinks Bush made the admission because he had a special liking to me.

“To start a war in Iraq was a tremendous, tremendous mistake internationally, he added.
