Pre-orders for an authorized biography of Steve Jobs soared on Wednesday hours just after the death of Apple's former CEO was announced. Publisher Simon & Schuster also announced on Thursday that the release date has been moved up from Nov. 21 to Oct. 24.

The Wall Street Journals reported that early Thursday morning, Walter Isaacson's "Steve Jobs" was No. 1 on Amazon's Web site and No. 3 on Barnes & Noble.com. The book also made it to the top of Apple's iTunes books best-seller list.

Jobs is a very private man who rarely discussed his personal life. However, Isaacson's book includes extensive interviews with Jobs. Isaacson wrote best-selling biographies of Albert Einstein and Benjamin Franklin, according to WSJ.

Jobs died on Wednesday at 56 after battling cancer for years. He is survived by his wife Laurene, whom he married on March 18, 1991, at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park, and his four children.
