Inspired by the recent boom in same-sex weddings since gay marriage was legalized last year in Argentina, a gay wedding dress fashion show was held in the capital of Buenos Aires.

Argentine designers and wedding planners organized what they claim is the first gay wedding dress fashion show in the world in Buenos Aires Thursday.

Argentina legalized same-sex marriages July 22 of last year, becoming the first country in Latin America to allow same-sex nuptials.

In July this year, New York became the fifth U.S. state to legalize same-sex marriage after Iowa, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Same-sex weddings are also legal in the U.S. capital of Washington.

The first-of-its-kind fashion show in Argentina saw models presenting creations for both gay and lesbian couples. The dresses were not similar to the usual wedding dresses of heterosexual couples.
