Wisconsin resident Alexander Hart, 19, who went on a planking spree that included lying atop a police squad car, a bank ATM machine and merchandise displays at Wal-Mart and Lowe's stores, was convicted this week for disorderly conduct.

The act of planking involves posing for photos or videos of people lying face down, straight as a board, in unusual places, and has become something of a craze across the world.

The photographs posted on Hart's Facebook page, earlier this year, as well as incriminating YouTube videos were used as evidence against him, in a municipal court in Manitowoc. Hart plans to contest his conviction, saying he was just having fun.

Judge Steven Olson fined Hart $303 for his escapades, which were photographed by his brother Ryan, who himself faces a disorderly conduct trial next week.

Ryan Hart apparently upset police by lying across a police memorial monument in front of the county jail.
