Setting aside her First Lady duties for a day, Michelle Obama now holds the Guinness world record for most people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period. She was joined in her jumping jacks Oct. 11 by 300,265 people from around the world, smashing the former record of 20,000 participants.

Hundreds of kids participated alongside Obama on the South Lawn of the White House, according to The Los Angeles Times, as part of her Let's Move! initiative to battle childhood obesity.

According to The White House Blog, the goal was to have over 20,000 people from around the world do jumping jacks for one minute. That goal was quickly surpassed.

I get to do a lot of cool things, but this is really exciting, Obama said to the crowd on the White House Lawn. I never thought in my entire life that I would be here today to break a Guinness World Record. Woohoo! And I'm here doing it with all of you and that makes it even more fun, because the whole country -- the world is going to see just how much fun we can have not just breaking a world record but also doing some exercise, right? Because that's one of my big things.

The jumping jacks effort was organized by National Geographic Kids and the record is technically in their name.

The First Lady started the Let's Move! effort in order to teach kids how to be healthier. Some of the main goals of the initiative are to give parents helpful information to support healthy choices in their children and to provide healthier food in school cafeterias.
