Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus makes a great holiday gift because it is very portable, super fun to use and has a great feel without being too heavy or bulky. It is expensive, however, because at $400, you can get a decent 10-inch tablet like the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. But the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is worth it because of it's bright display, full HD playback ability, impressive battery life, of course, the Android operating system. Furthermore, it weighs just 345 grams, making it the lightest seven inch tablet, nearly half what the iPad weighs.

Besides being light and getting around eight hours of battery life out of a single charge, one interesting feature it has is called the Peel Smart Remote App. It's a super easy app to use and it makes your Galaxy Tab into a universal remote control (Sony Tablet S has a similar function). As far as the Android software is concerned, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus ships with the Honeycomb 3.2 variant, but should get the Android 4.0 upgrade within a couple months. Samsung built the Galaxy Nexus for Google, so Samsung devices will probably be the first devices to get the upgrade out of all the manufacturers who run the Android system. At 345 grams, it's only double the weight of many smartphones out there. It's also only 9.7mm thick, making it nearly the same thickness as the iPhone. All that in a seven inch tablet computer.

Because it's Wi-Fi, you don't have to pay extra for connecting to a wireless carrier.

Honeycomb 3.2 comes with the device, but it should get the Android 4.0 update soon. Along with dozens of new features, the new update will be the same system that runs on smartphones. The Honeycomb variant only runs on tablets, while a version called Gingerbread is what powers many new Android smartphones.

Get up to eight hours of use from one charge. That depends on what you are doing with the device, of course. Heavy use will result in less battery life.

Good viewing angles and 1024x600p resolution make all your content look more realistic with less distortion.

Watching movies is a snap as many formats are compatible, and there is 16 gigabytes of on board storage so you can store up to around 20 hours of movies.

This is Samsung's software interface on top of the Android system. It features apps like Live Panel and Mini Apps. Live Panel gives you quick access to email, image gallery and your social networks. Mini Apps is the home of your task manager, calender, music and more.

The 16 gigabyte version can be expanded to 32 gigabytes with a microSD card.
