The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, which was released for Verizon Wireless at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on Monday, will be considered the overachiever of the Razr family in coming days, said Motorola.

The phone is being released for Verizon Wireless for $300 with a two-year contract in the near future.

The Motorola Razr Maxx sports a 4.3-inch 540x960 pixels Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen with 256 ppi pixel density. The Razr Maxx measures 130.7 x 68.9 x 9 mm and weighs 145 g. It has a dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 processor with a chipset of TI OMAP 4430, PowerVR SGX540 GPU.

The phone sports an 8 megapixel, 3264x2448 pixels unit autofocus, LED flash rear camera with 1080p video capture capabilities. The phone also has a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video chatting. The camera has features like auto focus, Touch-focus, geo-tagging, face detection and image stabilization.

The latest Motorola phone runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system but Verizon has promised to upgrade it to Google Inc.'s latest smartphone OS - Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which has been called Google's most ambitious release to date.

The Droid Razr Maxx has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 with LE+EDR, and microUSB 2.0 versions.

According to Verizon, Motorola took a rather revolutionary approach to the battery problem. The service provider indicated the device had a Li-Ion 3300 mAh that should provide up to 21 hours of talk time and 368 hours of standby time. The older Droid had only a 1700mAh battery.

Finally, the Razr Maxx boasts features like HTML, Adobe Flash, an Accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass, active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, MP3/AAC+/WAV/WMA player, MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV player, Splash resistant, HDMI port and integrated Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Picasa. The Razr Maxx 3G for Verizon comes with Rev. A, up to 3.1 Mbps and supports 4G LTE.
