WASHINGTON -- Samuel Joe the Plumber Wurzelbacher took to CPAC 2012 on Thursday in an attempt to raise interest and support for his campaign for Congress.

Joe the Plumber gained international acclaim in 2008 when Republican presidential nominee John McCain tabbed him as the face of the middle-class, small business owner. Since then he has traveled around the country to promote his message and is hoping that name recognition will help bring out voters in November.

He says he personally responds to emails directed at his campaign Web site and is running primarily on the need for tax reform. The former small business owner doesn't have one particular plan in place to fix things, but feels confident that he knows more than so-called tax experts.

What makes the experts qualified? he said about his tax reform qualifications. I know how to cut coupons and know if you have $5 you can't spend $10.

Wurzelbacher will represent the Republican Party in Ohio's Ninth District against either Dennis Kucinich or Marcy Kaptur -- two incumbents facing off against each other after redistricting. He faces an uphill battle, but reportedly has the support of the national party and continues to earn endorsements. On Thursday, the New Generation and the National Association for the Advancement of Conservatives of All Colors (NAACPC) both endorsed him.

As the endorsements continue to roll in, he promises to not run any negative advertisements against his opponents or compromise on any of his values.

You don't compromise the Constitution, he said. I like who I am and know you don't have to compromise.

He faces an uphill battle against the two well-known Democrat incumbents, but will try to leverage a combination of grass roots movement with a strong social media presence. The Ohio plumber says he has a ground game that is incredible, while also more than 5,000 likes on Facebook and 3,000 followers on Twitter.

I read about 20 different Web sites each day and them comment on stories on Facebook and Twitter, he said. Social media will play a big role because I want people to see what I'm about.
