Spanish newspaper Marca have published an interview with Javi Martinez, where the reported Real Madrid target says he is not worth the €40million that it has been rumored he would cost.

I do not think I'm worth so much; I do not think that I'm worth €40m, the Athletic Bilbao star said, according to Goal.com.

Marca report that Javi Martinez is on the radar of Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, as well as Manchester City. It has also been widely reported that Barcelona are hot on his trails, while Liverpool too have been linked.

I'm not saying anything now, Javi Martinez continued. These things [the rumors] are always going on in the world of football.

Although it is very nice to be talked about in the newspapers; it is a product of what you are doing and says you're doing things right. I am very happy to talk about myself but now I'm very focused on what I have at the moment.

That is enough, so I will try not to give much attention to that [the speculation].

A columnist in Marca claims that Javi Martinez could form a dream central-midfield partnership with Xabi Alonso next season. A sentiment with which it is hard to disagree.

Javi Martinez, 23, is one of the most highly-rated young players in Spain. A star of the Spanish under-21 side, the midfielder has already appeared seven times for the senior team.

In other Real Madrid transfer news, Italian giants Inter are preparing a bid for Real striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to Corriere dello Sport, as reported by Goal.com.

Whle Higuain is regarded as one of the deadliest strikers in Europe, he has been in and out of the Real Madrid side this season. Despite the battle to secure the leading striking berth with Karim Benzema, though, Higuain has still amassed an impressive 14 goals in La Liga.

If Real Madrid do sell him, it would require significant reinvestment to replace the Argentinian 24-year-old.
