Apple’s highly rumored iPhone 5 is doing the rounds on the Internet at the moment with different tech blogs and websites talking about different rumored specifications for the device. The Apple-made device is heavily rumored to arrive in the summer, more precisely in June. However, the company's biggest competitor is Samsung, which is also rumored to launch the Galaxy S3 this year. Even HTC is gearing up to challenge the iPhone’s popularity as soon as it arrives with its Blast.

Let’s see how the HTC Blast matches up against iPhone 5.

Operating System: The next generation iPhone is rumored to arrive with iOS 6. Although Apple has released the new iOS 5.1 along with the new iPad, it is expected that the new smartphone will bring the next version of iOS along with it. This is because Apple always had the tradition of launching a software upgrade whenever a new device was announced.

Although the HTC Blast is rumored to run on Android 3.0 or Honeycomb, most of the tech blogs and fans believe that when the device finally arrives, it will run on Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich or even Android 5.0 (Jelly Bean). There is nothing that can be said with certainty about both the devices at the moment.

Processor: Apple, along with its new iPad, brought the upgraded A5X chip. However, it is now widely believed that Apple will not use the same chip for the new iPhone. Earlier an A6 chip was heavily rumored to arrive with the iPad this year, but that never happened and Apple fans had to settle with an A5X chip.

Now, tech enthusiasts are pretty sure that the desirable A6 chip will arrive with the iPhone 5 and will also sport a quad-core processor. The HTC Blast, on the other hand, is also rumored to integrate Qualcomm Snapdragon MS8660 1.5 GHz quad core processor along with Adreno 220 chipset. This very fast processor is also complemented by a 1 GB RAM.

Camera: Apple has introduced 2592 x 1944 pixels, 5MP camera into its new iPad tablet with features such as autofocus, touch focus, geo tagging, HDR and face recognition. The previous iPhone 4S also sported an 8 MP camera with autofocus, LED flash and other features. Samsung, Apple’s biggest competitor in the market, is now rumored to release the Galaxy S3 which is said to offer a 12MP camera that can be a game-changing feature in the battle for smartphone market supremacy.

However, tech enthusiasts all over are expecting a much improved camera from Apple with at least a dual LED flash when the iPhone 5 arrives. The Blast is also rumored to arrive with a 12 MP rear camera with full HD recording and a 3.2 MP camera on the front for making video calls. Most of the smartphones in the market at the moment sport a maximum of an 8 MP rear camera.

Display Size: While the iPhone 5 is said to arrive with a 4.6-inch screen with Retina Display, the HTC Blast is expected to showcase a giant 4.7-inch AMOLED screen with 1280 x 720 pixels. The Blast is also said to have dimensions of 120x65x9 mm and weigh about 165 grams.

4G LTE: Apple is expected to introduce the 4G LTE technology in the iPhone 5 after the company provided it on the recently announced iPad. The HTC Blast is also said to arrive with the 4G LTE technology which is offered by most of the service providers across United States like Verizon, Sprint and AT&T.

Memory: As Apple launched the previous iPhone 4S in as many as three avatars – 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB – it is now expected that the company will do the same with the new iPhone 5. The Blast, nonetheless, is said to arrive with 32 GB of internal memory with an external card slot that will also provide the option of adding another 32 GB on the smartphone.
