New iPad overheating problem overrated?

The new iPad is the hottest topic in the tech world. Not only that, it is also the hottest of all the iPad devices, literally. Apple's decision to beef up the device with a bigger battery, superbly gorgeous HD Retina display, 4G LTE and a faster graphics processor, has caused the new iPad to run warmer than previous iPads and possibly some Android tablets as well.

Adding the impressive new features in the new iPad, while knowing they would cause the device to run hotter, is a necessary evil, one we are not displeased with. However, consumers are complaining about an overheating problem that is not really a problem. But Apple should be careful before it is blown out of proportion.

There are no reasons to be overly concerned since the chances of an iPad overheating and bursting into flames are low. The overheating is due to the bigger battery and its ability to accommodate high temperatures. Many test have been done to figure out how serious the overheating concerns are, and from what came from the results, all new iPads are good to go.

That said, the new iPad is significantly hotter than the iPad 2. The device reaches a temperature of 116 degrees Fahrenheit, according the Consumer Reports own testing. We won't lie - that is actually hot for a tablet, but that kind of heat only comes about if users are doing hardcore things like playing graphic-intensive games, or spending long hours browsing the Internet via 4G LTE. Apart from that, the new iPad runs alright, so there is no reason to go and get the pitchforks and machetes.

The only noticeable concern is when the new iPad reaches a certain temperature, it shuts itself down. No one wants to be in the middle of a game having the time of their lives, only to have their new iPad commit suicide. No, the expletives that would pour out that at moment is not something we would want to share with our grandkids.

The new iPad is Apple's latest weapon to help maintain its lead in the tablet race. This sexy device features a HD Retina display with resolutions up to 2048x1536 pixels, an A5X dual core processor with quad core GPU, 4G LTE, bigger battery, iOS 5.1, and 5-megapixel iSight camera, but no Siri.

Apple reported that the company sold over 3 million new iPads during the first weekend, which is three times the number of sales of the iPad 2 over its first weekend.
