It's Coachella time, which means another weekend of desert sun, the giant Ferris wheel and all the Canadian artists festivalgoers can handle.

Last year's lineup saw the likes of City and Colour, Death From Above 1979, Chromeo and Arcade Fire, who played an unbelievable set as the Saturday headliners. During the Canadian band's performance of Wake Up, hundreds of giant yellow balloons descended onto the crowd, creating a breathtaking spectacle that can only be categorized as one of those you had to be there moments.

This year, more you had to be there moments will be created by a new team representing Canada. EDM trio Dragonette, indie vets Destroyer and singer-songwriter Feist are all due for Coachella time this weekend. Feist's double weekend duty is also smack in the middle of her world tour, in support of her latest album, Metals.

Saskatoon-based rockers The Sheepdogs, who recently won 3 Juno awards (Canada's equivalent to the Grammys), are also on the Coachella bill.

Canadian music is hitting its stride . . . it's cool to be a Canadian band again, Sheepdogs bass guitarist Ryan Gullen said in a recent interview with Postmedia News.

It's the greatest atmosphere . . . we're definitely going as music fans, as well, he added.
