Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are definitely not going to include PETA on THE ROW's Spring 2013 guest list.

The Olsen twins' fur backpack has infuriated the animal rights organization, which called the twins trolls.

If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll, it's probably a Trollsen Twin -- or someone wearing one of their new $16,000 totes, which are made from the fur and skins of innocent animals, PETA said in a statement to E! News about the new pricey backpack.

What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value. Sadly, it's the foxes, calves and alligators -- who often have the fur ripped off them while they are still conscious and able to feel pain -- who pay the dearest price.

The $16,900 backpack is made out of a patch of multicolor animal fur. Versions also exist in alligator and calfskin.

Fashionista reported that PETA has had a beef with the Olsen twins since 2007. When they first launched THE ROW's handbag line in October at Paris Fashion Week, they were criticized for selling a $39,000 backpack made of crocodile skin.

PETA sponsors an entire website dedicated to lambasting Hairy-Kate and Trashley Trollsen for their use of fur, hide and other animals products in their clothing line.

The website boasts spooky features like a dressing room where the Olsen twins can be clothed in the animal carcasses of your choice and ways for people to take action against the actresses turned fashion designers.

Others are less angry about the use of fur on the bag as they are about what they feel is the bag's sheer lack of attractiveness.

I'm generally a fan of The Row's bags and accessories, but this thing looks like it was assembled from the leftover carcasses of slaughtered Muppets, wrote Purse Blog's Amanda Mull. It's awful. Even more awful than the average fur bag, which is pretty bad to begin with. I wouldn't carry it if I were given it for free, no matter how much I think that The Row generally designs bags that are gorgeous and classic. This one is the exception that proves the rule.

Although animal rights activists might be up in arms about the Olsen twins' fur backpack, these ostentatious products are beloved by the fashion folk. The $39,000 crocodile backpack might have cost as much as a BMW, but the girls could not keep it in stock.

It was the first thing that sold off the shelf, Ashley Olsen said at the time, and the sisters are trying their best to keep up with demand.

In June, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were honored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) with the 2012 Womenswear Designers of the Year award for their line. They have made quite a name for themselves in the high fashion biz, with their hugely popular line, THE ROW, and designing stints with Elizabeth & James.

The Olsen twins chatted with Elle UK about their journey from adorable childhood stars to bona fide fashion moguls. The twins, Elle UK said, seek to carve a career path that rivals Tom Ford's. Adding, You have to be a little crazy to do what we do.
