Kate Upton is firing back at critics at the so-called pro-anorexia site skinnygossip.com who called the 2012 Sports Illustrated cover model fat in a scathing post.

Kate Upton, 20, whose celebrity reached stratospheric heights last year after she did the Dougie at a Los Angeles Clippers game, defended her body and her healthy lifestyle.

I'm not going to starve just to be thin, Upton responded Monday to the critics who called her fat, according to The Sun. I want to enjoy life, and I can't if I'm not eating and miserable.

Upton's spokesman called the criticism absurd. Kate is gorgeous and very healthy, he told The Sun.

Not so, according to skinnygossip.com, which gave a detailed and harsh critique of the voluptuous model in a June 10 post titled Kate Upton Is Well-Marbled. The post was categories under Fatties, Kate Upton and Thunder Thighs.

The skinnygossip.com post included a Carl's Jr. advertisement shot by Upton that shows the blonde beauty scarfing down a burger.

Huge thighs, NO waist, big fat floppy boobs, terrible body definition - she looks like a squishy brick, the anonymous Skinny Gurl posted on the site. Is this what American women are 'striving' for now? The lazy, lardy look? Have we really gotten so fat in this country that Kate is the best we can aim for? Sorry, but: eww!

The post included earlier photos of Upton looking skinnier.

I feel for her agent - I can almost hear the weeping. What beautiful eyes and face she started with -- there was actually potential for her before she fell in love with ... stuffing her face! Skinny Gurl wrote.

But that was followed up by more criticism along with a photo of Upton holding an burger from In-N-Out.

Look, I'll admit - I love In'n'Out as much as the next gurl, but it's not supposed to be an everyday thing, Kate! And we can be sure that Kate is the rare model who poses with food - and then actually devours it, Skinny Gurl continued. This girl belongs deep in the gutter of American commercialism - so don't get any crazy ideas about her being a fashion model, OK?

The creator of skinnygossip.com said they did not think they would get so much media backlash over the Kate Upton fat comments.

An update to the post was made July 8.

What I write on the site is intentionally outrageous and intended to provoke controversy, but I never imagined it would grow to the point where the celebrities I was writing about were actually reading the articles, and that has made me think, Skinny Gurl wrote, adding that the pro-anorexia label skinnygossip.com has acquired is absolutely false.

Upton is arguably the hottest model in the business right now, having landed the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue this year and appearing in a Saturday Night Live skit in 2012. She's featured in the July edition of GQ, where she wears a patriotic bikini and sucks on a red, white and blue popsicle.
