Ms. Melodie of Boogie Down Productions has died, according to the Twitterverse. Global Grind has reported on the death, but only cites anonymous sources, so before anyone gets upset about the passing of Ms. Melodie, it could still be a hoax as of now.

Ramona Parker, best known as Ms. Melodie, was an influential member of Boogie Down Productions, Global Grind said. Her first album, Diva, was released in 1989 under Jive Records.

The artist is best known for her hit single Hype According to Ms. Melodie and her video, Live On Stage.

Global Grind cites her most memorable performance was singing Self Destruction and she also briefly appeared in Queen Latifah's video for Ladies First.

Ms. Melodie is (or was) a Brooklyn native and has two sons. She is also the ex-wife of KRS-ONE.

The cause of her alleged death is unknown.

Many fans of Ms. Melodie took to Twitter to share their grief over losing the artist, and quoted one of her famous lines, I'm Ms. Melodie and I'm a born again rebel.

Even Russell Simmons, founder of Def Jam records sent out a tweet about Ms. Melodie's death.

He said, RIP Ms. Melodie. a dope MC and posted a link to the Global Grind article.

No official statements regarding the death of Ms. Melodie have been made. As of now, the word is being spread through Twitter.
