Brazilian Olympian Felipe Katidai broke his bronze medal hours after winning it, when the judoka took the award into the shower and dropped it hours after his victory, according to Reuters. But no worries, he'll get a new one.

"He was taking a shower with the medal when he dropped it," a team spokeswoman said. "He then slept with the medal and realized later that it was broken. It wasn't a very smart thing to do."

The medal was damaged where the ribbon passes through a hoop, making it impossible to wear. After a few frantic phone calls, Olympic officials agreed to replace the broken medal, even though they're under no obligation to do so.

The Brazilian surprised many by being the nation's first athlete to win a medal at the 2012 games. Kitadai won the bronze on his birthday, no less, beating Italian Elio Verde and taking the podium during his first Olympic games.

"I'm very happy about my medal. I would have liked gold but this makes me feel really good. It's the best present I could get on my birthday," Kitadai said after winning the medal, but before breaking it.
