A 17-year-old Belgian girl has scored a modeling contract from L’Oreal, one of the largest global cosmetics brands, after a photo of her cheering from the stands at the World Cup in Brazil went viral on social media.

The photo of Axelle Despiegelaere was published by newspapers around the world and a Facebook page set up by the teenager after the group match between Belgium and Russia has received more than 26,000 likes so far. Later, L’Oreal reportedly contacted Despiegelaere and offered her a modeling contract, and she also recently filmed a promotional video for the company.

“Made my decision..signed my contract, with L'Oreal!” the Belgium fan wrote on her page on Wednesday.

However, earlier this month, Despiegelaere was criticized for posting a photo of her after hunting the Oryx Gazella, an antelope native to Africa's Kalahari Desert that is also known as the gemsbok.

“Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It's much more important than that...” the soccer fan-turned-model, captioned the photo, which was later edited Wednesday to state that the photo was taken “about 1 year ago.”

According to the Independent, a spokesperson for L’Oreal told France's L'Express Style that Despiegelaere has not been signed on as a brand ambassador for L'Oreal Paris, contrary to some speculations.
